Job Description:The Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center’s mission is to preserve a history of struggle and to continue to educate and empower individuals to become agents of change in their own communities. After six years of grass-root organizing by the board members and community, the CPMCC is open at last as of October 8, 2022. The CPMCC has served as an educational and cultural hub by providing resources, programming, and care to the community since its creation. The CPMCC has marked a revolutionary impact in the Barrio/Logan Heights community and Chican@ history and will continue to serve as a site of resilience through art, history, and science. The CPMCC is in search of strong leaders to sustain our efforts and continue the legacy that many have created in the land takeover of Chicano Park. The CPMCC is in search of a student intern that is interested in building community, learning about Chican@ culture, and interested in museum/ art/ science spaces. The Student Intern(s) can expect to work closely with the CPMCC staff, community members, and other youth on a project that will combine their passions and interests.

Job Description:Some of the possibilities: A) help document programming by creating short promo videos, fliers, photo docs, website /Facebook/etc. updates, B) build pts, C) prep/assist at workshops/residencies, 4) learn how to and perform with puppets, Some will depend on Guild programming and deadlines during the three weeks of the internship.
Recommended Qualifications:Just general ones: a fascination with the power and magic of puppetry, a desire to learn more, and to share what they learn with others. What can be accomplished during the course of the internship will vary depending on the interests of the interns and the deadlines already on the Guild's schedule at the time. If interested in learning to perform, with an internship that is only 3 weeks long, helping recreate one of the Guild's past shows is the most feasible option.
What else to know:Just FYI, one rule of thumb for new productions is to allow at least 4 months of concentrated rehearsal to create a show that is ready to be performed. With less time available, rough works in progress, advertised as such, and asking for input from audiences afterwards is a reasonable first step.
