APPLYING FOR INTERNSHIP
Check out our Interview Day Job Board. We have several community partners ready and willing to take interns from HTHCV. Most of these companies/organizations will be joining us for interview day, on Wednesday, Feb 5th, 2025 from 9:00am-12:00 pm. Take some time and research them.
I want to contact an internship site – how do I do it professionally without bringing shame on myself and my team?
Here's how you do it!
HOW TO WRITE A PROFESSIONAL EMAIL:

HOW TO “COLD CALL” A PLACE WHERE YOU WANT TO GET AN INTERNSHIP:
“Cold calling” just means calling somebody who isn’t expecting your call. You will almost certainly need to “cold call” somebody at some point in your internship search, because, let’s face it, people ignore emails. It’s a lot harder to ignore a phone call, though.
This website will teach you everything you need to know about cold-calling.
I need a résumé and cover letter and I don’t know how to make them!
Your teachers will be run workshops on résumés and cover letters in class. If you need to make your résumé before these workshops happen, make an appointment with your teachers and they will advise you.
I need to prepare for a job interview
Have no fear, you’ll also be doing workshops for this. And again, if you have a job interview and you haven’t done the workshops yet, talk to your teachers.
OK, I secured my own internship, what are my next steps?
Step 1: Read the Mentor Requirements and feel free to share this with your mentor.
Step 2: Fill out the Google Form “I secured my own Internship 2024!”
Step 3: Have your mentor send a brief email to your team teachers and CC Ms. Soler (ysoler@hightechhigh.org) stating that they are agreeing to have you as an intern.
Step 4: Signing of the The Internship Handbook, as soon as they are ready to go we will send this to you to fill out and forward to your mentor.
